since 1937

You know what they say - a picture is worth a thousand words

We've been on this site since 1937, and since that time we've served our share of miners, farmers, traders, tourists, hikers, bikers, fakers, rascals, vagabounds, families, etc etc
meet some of the locals

The original Blacks Hotel was near the centre of the village

The pub, late in construction, 1936-1937

The first customers were the builders, being served whiskey and milk. The milk was pretty fresh.

The original art deco design had three arches at the entrance, but this was later altered to create more bar space.

A proper ‘local’, Blacks continues to be the place where travellers can drop in for a drink and stay, and locals can catchup.

There’s a fine fishing and hunting tradition at Blacks, and the first day of the fishing and duck seasons are always popular.

There’s always plenty of parking.

Hoar Frost, but the pub boasts one of the best fireplaces in Central.

the power of the dog

We’re a dog-friendly country pub, so whether your dog is a Hunterway or a Chihuahua, they’re welcome – as long as they’re behaved.
